Decisive ACTION- What to do when the rubber really does meet the road

"Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment".
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ok.  You have set your intentions, figured out your place in the world and are ready to go after what you want.  GREAT...AWESOME...WAY TO GO.  One caution though - Have you really determined the specific action steps you are going to take?  Have you set yourself up for a pattern of success right out of the gate?  Do you really know what is going to happen when "The Rubber meets the road"?

One of the key tenets of "The 365 Effect" is the S.A.M. principle and how to apply it when crafting of each specific commitment within a "365" program.   I can't stress enough the SIMPLE aspect of this principle, too often people jump out of the gate with the best intentions but their goals and actions towards those goals are simply unrealistic.

How often have you heard "I will lose 50lbs in 3 months as a New Year's Resolution" or "I will pay off all my credit cards in 90 days" or even more familiar "I will stop being negative".  It might even be you saying these familiar things.  The most important thing you can do to ensure success is to build SIMPLE Actions towards these goals.  NOTHING and I say it again...NOTHING is more important than initial success for when that "Rubber first meets the road".  This will be the foundation of your next 364 days.  You must build a "Success Mentality vs. a Failure Mentality" early on (more on this in my next post).  It is what fuels you, what inspires you and ultimately what pushes you on as you get closer to achieving your goals and dreams.

Do this quick test.  Set a goal.  It should be a super micro goal.  Here is an example.  I always hear from people who want to make fitness more of a priority in their lives.  Here is a simple goal.  Exercise tomorrow.  Simple right! Alas... it isn't, and most people immediately panic at the thought unless fitness is part of their daily routine.  People jump to leaving work early and paying a drop in fee at the gym, finding a babysitter, buying trendy fitness wear, worrying about how out of shape they are and the millions of other negative or distracting thoughts that jump into their heads.

Here is how to immediately SIMPLIFY that goal...
Boil down the goal of "Exercising tomorrow" into 1 simple action.... 1 pushup, 1 squat, 1 walk around the block, 1 Jumping Jack, 1situp etc etc etc.   It is that simple folks, don't let the "noise" of all the Failure Mentality mindsets of the world clutter your ability to succeed.  If you perform 1 exercise you succeed.  You can lay your head on the pillow that night knowing you accomplished your goal and that accomplishment is money in the bank for the next goal you aspire to achieve.

I also love this quote:  "Whenever a warrior decides to do something, he must go all the way, but he must take responsibility for what he does. No matter what he does, he must know first why he is doing it, and then he must proceed with his actions without having doubts or remorse about them". Carlos Castaneda

Go get it.. 3...2...1…GO.

As always, I welcome any comments and thoughts. If you are finding "The 365" interesting come say hi on Twitter @the365effect and share with others.
